Milo Features

Multi-way voice
All members in a group can speak naturally, including talking over each other. No need to push-to-talk like with a walkie-talkie. Just speak and hear everyone like in a normal conversation.
Long range mesh network
Your Milos create a secure mesh radio network. No Wi-Fi or phone signal needed. The range between two grouped Milos in clear terrain is usually around 1,000m (3,000 feet). Milos do not require line-of-sight to stay connected and will work through trees. However range can be affected by more severe obstructions. The MiloNetTM network extends your group’s overall range when the group spreads out, as the Milos act as “repeaters” for other Milos in the group.
Advanced wind noise reduction
Six digital low-distortion microphones and sophisticated wind and background noise reduction algorithms deliver clear voice in all conditions.
Waterproof and rugged
Milo is designed to meet the challenges you face on all active adventures. It is impact resistant, dust- and waterproof and can be fully submerged in water. It is IP67 rated and has been tested to depths of 3m (10 feet) for short durations.
All day battery
The integrated rechargeable lithium polymer battery provides a full day of use under normal conditions, even in cold weather. If needed, you can use a portable power bank to charge Milo while still talking to your group.
Private and secure
Milo creates an encrypted network for your group. That means you don’t need to pick a channel, and nobody outside your group can listen in on your conversations.
Bluetooth or wired headset optional
Milo can be used with or without a headset. Connect with your favorite Bluetooth or wired headset for that in-ear sound experience, or just use Milo with the built-in microphones and powerful loudspeaker.

Having developed many consumer products personally, I was surprised at how easy the setup was. I was up and running in less than 60 seconds and I didn’t even bother to read the quick start guide. I just found the power button and was off and running. Next I wanted to test the range. I live on a few acres with a main house and barn. My family often roams over to our neighbors’ houses who own the surrounding acreage on either side. So within the approximately 10 acres of mine and my neighbors, I wanted to see if we stayed in range. Milo passed the test – I was easily able to communicate with my kids and vice versa. It was like talking to them right next to me — much better than yelling, or having to call them on a cellphone or what my neighbors like to do, play a bugle to bring in the kids for dinner.

My husband and I have used the Milos on cycling trips. Our favorite feature is the ease if use, and the handsfree “ok milo” voice commands.

I got this to use with my autistic brother. When he goes in public mens rooms, he doesn’t come out without me telling him to. So now I can tell him without going into the mens room,( I’m a woman) sound is clear and there’s a decent range, and he doesn’t have to push button, I just hang it around his neck.

It is a pretty neat product; we used it for biking, coordinating our next turns, and chit-chatting along the way. It works well for this purpose, and we are able to talk most of the time. Sometimes times there is interference, especially on the streets of busy New York. However, that is rare. My partner said this is really a cool interesting device and she loves it, I second that!

We bought 3 Milos for our recent 620 gravel ride on the east coasts green way mid Atlantic section. Milos helped immensely as we navigated through cities, great parks, canals, country roads and more even in the rain at times. There were times when we missed turns and were able to speak out and gather together on the right path. When I lagged behind a bit, sometimes as far as 1/4 to half a mile we were still able to be in contact. I liked that they were hands free, sound quality was good…even in traffic and batteries lasted most of the day through constant use. I highly recommend.

I have had Milos for two years. These commincators are the best thing to have on adventures. I’m an avid mountain biker and I like riding with friends and the Milo’s come with me in all my rides so I can communicate with fellow mountain bike riders. Milo’s are also a great safety device because let me know if some falls, or there danger ahead we can communicate this things. I recommend Milo’s very much for mountain bikers and all adventurers where you have the possibility of getting separated. Money well worth.

We use them for skiing and mountain biking with the kids. As you can see in the video, for skiing, we mounted them to the back of the helmet for each kid and they work shockingly well…totally hands free, no wind noise, I can talk and hear my kids as we ski….they’re great. I’m constantly surprised how well they work, especially given we mounted them on the backside of the kids helmets.

  1. Initial setting was giving me a little headache because of less or minimal explanation but once figure it out, this device works great! Every my expectations on it! I go road bike ride, mountain bike ride, gravel bike ride, and SUP with my husband constantly, and we want to enjoy conversation during activities. Since we start using it, even we have quite large distance between us, we have no problem our communication at all. My hub says he doesn’t need to stop and turn around to check up on me anymore… lol. We wear the earbuds (I wear the bone conduction headphones) so, hearing loud and clear! Also, love the function which is called “proximity mute”. The product is pricy but definitely worth to have! Highly recommend:)

  3. Does not work as advertised. We purchased a set of two, one black one red to use while cycling. I mean leisure cycling. I normally ride about 30-50 foot ahead of my husband on fat tire ebikes. Mostly on paved surfaces, however we did take these on some gravel roads also. Let’s get to the point. Sometimes they work about 10% of the time, the rest of the time, you are yelling to get them to work. Very frustrating! We tried them with air pods, and the also with the armbands, not just mounted on the handlebars… still did not work. They will not stay connected, nor did they pick you your voice unless you were yelling. We would folly charge, take connect them, and they would loose 5% charge automatically. They are a lot of money for nothing.

  5. I took the Milo action communicator out on a bike ride with a friend and was blown away at the simplicity of use, the long range and the ability to actually have a conversation – while automatically muting out background music from my speaker, and my huffing and puffing! 😉

Several times during our ride, I was able to keep in touch with my buddy at crucial forks in the trail to keep them in the loop on which direction to go without missing a beat. The “proximity mode” which lowers the audio when in close range works well. But at rest stops, we were able to quickly and easily hit the mute button (the whole front of the unit) to further silence any feedback. I love the fact that I can actually have conversations and get caught up with my buddies on Mtn bike rides. Something that was typically possible only at the end of the ride during celebratory after ride beers!

Additionally, I was able to download over the air updates through the app using Bluetooth. No cable needed! It provided me new functionality (voice-activated AI features allowing me to directly speak to members of my group). I haven’t tried this feature yet but love the idea that this Tesla-like feature only helps my product get better over time.

The mounts also work great! Super slick. I used a handlebar mount for my bike and clipped a unit to my buddy’s camelbak. I used the lanyard in case it accidentally slipped off. It hasn’t slipped off yet, but certainly gave me peace of mind.

I also used these units with my wife and daughter on multiple paddleboard & kayak excursions. A game changer for sure! My daughter loved using it in particular and we will be using these on all of our family outdoor adventures! Overall, Milo has transformed how we stay connected during our favorite outdoor activities. Highly recommended!

  6. I purchased these for communication when I travel abroad for safaris. I attempted to use them with a friend in the tent next door about TWENY FIVE FEET away. I was embarrassed as I had told them how great these were going to be when there was no wifi, etc. they just kept cutting out. We could not even have a quick check in conversation, let alone, take them out into the jungle. These were so expensive(I had to do a payment plan)that I assumed all the great reviews had to be accurate. I am sadly disappointed in them. They should have been so cool. And now I am out $500.
I would not recommend these to anyone for any reason.

FAQs

Why is Milo priced at a premium?
Yes, we could make Milos cheaper. But if we did that, they’d be cheap. They wouldn’t have advanced wind and background noise suppression. They wouldn’t be waterproof and rugged. They wouldn’t let you speak hands-free, phone-free with your group, on the slopes, trails of the water. They wouldn’t be Milo Action Communicators. So, it’s safe to say, Milo will never be cheap. And that’s a good thing. Because you’ll always get what you pay for.
Can I try it?
With our 30-day returns, sure you can. We’re so confident you will love Milo that we will refund your purchase if you’re not satisfied. Simply return your units within 30 days, no questions asked, no hoops.
Does Milo include a warranty?
Milo comes with a 2-year warranty. Each Milo is comprehensively tested before leaving the factory. In the unlikely event that a unit stops working, we will replace the unit.
What is the Milo range?
Milo range is up to about 1,000 m / 3,000 feet between any two Milos in your group. Sometimes even much farther. This depends on terrain and conditions, of course. The range is extended by the MiloNet mesh network if your group spreads out farther, because the Milos in your group act as “repeaters” for the other Milos.
What is the Milo noise canceling like?
Milo has very good wind and background noise suppression thanks to the six integrated high performance digital microphones and sophisticated audio signal processing algorithms. This enables everyone in your group to be clearly heard, even in very windy conditions or when moving fast.
How waterproof is Milo?
Milo is completely waterproof and has an IP67 rating, which means it can be submerged in up to 1 meter (3 ft) of water for a half an hour. Milo has also been tested for short durations down to 3m (10 ft).
What about salt water?
Milo has very few moving parts outside of sealed buttons. In the same way you take care of, say, an action camera, we recommend rinsing with fresh water after use in salt water, so with care you will not have any problems. We also include a set of rubber plugs that fit into the USB-C port.
Will Milo work in cold temperatures?
Yes, Milo was designed for the harshest environments and has been tested and will work in freezing cold temperatures.
Does Milo include a push-to-talk option?
While the core value of Milo is exactly that you don’t need to push a button to talk like you do with walkie-talkies, we know that sometimes you want that option. So, yes: just hold the big front Milo button while you talk to enable push-to-talk mode, and release to mute your microphones.
Is Milo good for kids?
Yes! Milo is very simple and handsfree and needs no phone, so it’s suitable even for younger kids. It gives you peace of mind when your kids are out of sight, knowing you can speak with them when needed. Milos can also notify you if your kids go out of range!
How secure is Milo? Are my conversations private?

Milo voice transmissions are encrypted and private and can only be heard by members in your group who have grouped their Milos™.

How close can they be without feedback?
You can bring Milos™ close to each other and they will not echo, unlike traditional walkie-talkies. Milo™ detects this condition to prevent the echo and automatically ducks the volume of sound from Milos™ when next to each other.
Battery – what kind of battery does Milo use? How long does it take to fully charge Milo?
Milo uses a high-quality lithium polymer rechargeable battery. Just like your phone battery, it is fully integrated allowing Milo to be completely waterproof. The battery lasts a full day on a single charge and takes about 90 minutes to fully charge from empty. Your Milo™ will charge more quickly when powered on.
Is Milo's software updatable?
Yes. You can update Milo via the Milo™ mobile app for iPhone and Android. We will release not only bug fixes but also significant new features via regular software updates and your Milo will continue to get better over time. New software features, such as voice control or long-range-mode, will not require any additional hardware purchases. Software updates will be available via the Milo Link app, free from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Do I need a headset? Can I use Milo with a headset?
You don’t need to use a headset with Milo, but if you like you can pair Milo with most Bluetooth headset brands or even plug in a wired headset. Also, your Milo does not need to be mounted permanently into a helmet so you have flexibility to use Milo on all your adventures, on the trails, slopes the water and beyond.
